"I don't watch horror movies!"
Ok, let's pretend we are watching a horror movie for the first time :-)
As we are watching it we get might scared, right?
Why? Because we get surprised, the music and effects get very loud, and the monster or assassin comes very close. So we get scared, totally normal.
But now let's pretend we are watching the movie again, for a second time.
But this time, with no sound, with the lights on, and we will stop on the monster or assassin so we can see and understand what it is.
How much would the movie scare us now? Much less, right?
Why? Because first, we watched the movie already and know more or less what happens. And second, because we cut off all the triggers that could frighten us.
But we might still get a little frightened because we might not have the timing right yet.
Now, let's imagine we watch it again a third time.
"A third time?"
Yes, a third time!
How much do you think the movie would scare us now?
Would you agree not that much?
I bet you would.
Why? Because by now we know exactly what happens. We will have the timing right, and we know who the monster or assassin is.
We turned something intangible tangible.
This is important because when something is tangible, and you got to know all about it, it will never surprise or scare you ever again.
And what can't scare you will never be able to hold you back in your life?
Right?!
Imagine the "monster" being your anxiety.
